Artist's Palette Cake
INGREDIENTS
1 baked 9-inch round cake
2 cups white frosting
Gel icing, assorted colors
Fruit leather
1 licorice twist
Method
Cut the cake as shown and cover it with
white frosting. Using a 1 1/2-inch round
cookie cutter,
cut out a thumb hole in the
palette and frost the insides. Next, use the
cutter to lightly mark the circles in the
frosting, then fill with gel icing "paints." To
make the brush,
wrap the fruit leather
around the base of the licorice twist and
fringe the ends.
TIP: For easy frosting, crumb-coat
your cake by spreading it with a thin layer
of frosting, then refrigerating it. When the
first layer is hard, finish frosting the cake.
