Thank you so much for the treasure chest of Mozingo info, Samie. It's so
great to be able to match up names and dates I've been holding for 30 years.
As I'm sure you are -- I'm the family historian in my branch of the
family. As I'm getting older (I'm 45) I'm waiting to pass my family history
on to the next generation of genealogists. My grandmother moved my mother
and uncle from NC in the 1950's to CA (I'm in OR).

My branch of the Mozingo family is from one of the daughters -- Elizabe
Barnes Mozingo (b. 1871). She was the daughter of James E. Mozingo and
Sarah Elizabeth Mozingo.

My records show that James E. Mozingo (b. 1844; d. Aug 24, 1874) and Sarah
Elizabeth Mozingo (b. April 9, 1840; d. Aug 2, 1929) were married in 1864.
James E. was the son of John and Mary Mozingo. Sarah Elizabeth was the
daughter of Edwin and Nancy Barnes.

My gggrandmother was Elizabeth Barnes Mozingo-Davis (b. Feb 18, 1871 in
Wayne County, NC; d. May 2, 1946) was married to William Davis (b. Sept 3,
1864; d. July 21, 1914).

It was Elizabeth Barnes Mozingo-Davis who told my grandmother the Mozingos
were black irish and Cherokee. My grandmother has been to England, Ireland
and Scotland several times and always looked for Mozingos in public
directories but was never able to locate the name. I spoke with her the
other day and she said the last time she looked for Mozingos in the UK was
in the late 1980's.

I hope I haven't totally confused you with this additional info. I'm more
than happy to share whatever family history I have, and I thank you aga
for sharing your info with me.

Tammy
