TIMMONSVILLE � Services for Finley Grover Howell, 85, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Swamp Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lake Swamp Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 6558 Oates Hwy., Timmonsville, SC 29161. Mr. Howell died October 6, 2002. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Grover C. and Mary Mozingo Howell. Mr. Howell was a retired farmer and for a number of years operated Howell�s Grocery. He was with the Timmonsville Police Department for 20 years and retired as Chief of the Department. Mr. Howell was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church and had been teacher of the Men�s Sunday School Class and chairman of the Cemetery Committee and Property Committee. He was a member of Lake Swamp Woodmen of The World, Camp # 1105 and Benton Lodge No. 26, AFM. Mr. Howell was also a member of the Lake Swamp Fire Department and Darlington County Fire Board. He had been a poll manager at Lake Swamp Voting Precinct. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Eunice Freeman Howell; sons, Rick (Kay) Howell, Jeff (Brenda) Howell, and Steve (Daphene) Howell, all of Timmonsville, and Dillon (Tina) Howell of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters, Mahala (Willie James) Windham of Lamar, Carole (David) Amerson of Hartsville, and Candy Sarrio of Lawrenceville, Gas.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren
