Hala: Hi, Cousin! You did post to the Mozingo site correctly--so everyone got your message. We are an active group doing research on the Mozingo family. Recently, we had a mini reunion! It was wonderful to finally meet some of the "cousins". Hope you'll join the Mozingo group!!
Don't know if you are interested or not--but--I've been doing a little research on Sara Mozingo Keller. Sara was born in 1831, in Indiana and the daughter of Josiah Mozingo who was born in Virginia 1807. Her mother's name was Elizabeth, she was born in North Carolina, 1809. Sara had 3 sisters, Elizabeth born 1833, Paulina 1838, and Mary 1841 all were born in Indiana.
She was married to William H Keller who was born in Kentucky, 1828. They were married in 1851. Both Sara and William were alive in 1900 living in Texarkana, Arkansas. She stated that she had 12 children and only 1 alive. They were in Texas in 1880 (census). Sometime, between 1870 and 1880 they left Indiana and moved to Texas then on to Arkansas.
Being a Mozingo descendent--with no Musical talent. I love the story of Florence and May being talented!! It also gives me a clue as to where my son Aaron got his gift (the Mozingo side of the family). From the age of 7 when he picked up his Violin he could play it. He is truly gifted!
Thanks for the reply--good luck on the quilt. It is truly beautiful.
Sharon

Hi Sharon - I noticed the discussion on the Yahoo Mozingo board and I tried to post a message on site and I don't know whether I did it right. I just wanted to let you know that Mother remembered that Sara Mozingo had two daughters - Florence and May. Florence played the violin and sang beautifully. May had a beautiful voice too. Over 20 years ago, Florence's daughter got in touch with Mother and came to visit her in Texarkana. Mother gifted her with Florence's violin. Since then, they have lost touch, and she can't remember her name, but they lived in Lodi, CA. She thinks that one of them married a Keith.

Hala
