EVANS, Dorothy M., passed away in Brevard Hospice Health Care in Rockledge, Fla., on Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2006, one day shy of her 81st birthday.
She was born in Independence, Pa. to the late Ruth and Willard Crupe.
She married Charles L. (Chuck) Evans in 1945, and they spent many happy years in Glen Dale, W.Va., where she was the secretary at Glen Dale United Methodist Church for 25 years.
Her beloved husband passed away in 1978, and when she found out she was going to be a grandmother, she moved to Merritt Island, Fla. in 1979. She retired from the Brevard County School Board in 1999 after 18 years at Merritt Island High School as the Adult Education secretary. After her retirement, she kept busy volunteering in the front office of Merritt Island High every Friday, and many other days at Grace United Methodist Church,
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carol Weaver (Monte) of Merritt Island; her sister, Eileen Murphy (James) of Wellsburg, W.Va.; granddaughter, Melissa Strickland Worsley (Steve,) and her ten week old great-granddaughter, Ayla, of Orlando; three nieces and their families in W.Va; and many wonderful friends.
A Memorial Service is planned for 6 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2006 at Grace United Methodist Church on Merritt Island, and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006 in Parkview Memorial Gardens in Wheeling, W.Va.
Memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Merritt Island, Fla. or Brevard Hospice Health Care in Rockledge, Fla.
