Jack Monzingo
Jack Dalton Monzingo left this world on Friday, April 18, 2003 in
Odessa. He was born September 25, 1929, in Lubbock, TX, to William H.
Monzingo and Orela Jarvis Monzingo.
He was raised in Memphis, TX, where he played football with the
Memphis Cyclones and graduated from Memphis High School in 1947.
Shortly after graduation, Jack married his high school sweetheart
Betty Bob Webb on September 27, 1947.
Jack and Bobby moved to Odessa in 1957. He was an employee of El Paso
Natural Gas and retired in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a
Charter Member and Usher of Asbury United Methodist Church in Odessa
and a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge.
Jack blessed the lives of all those around him and is deeply loved by
his family that survives him, which includes his wife Bobby; son,
Rocky Lee and daughter in-law Vicky Monzingo of Midland; granddaughter
Camille and husband John Wheelock of New Braunfels; grandson, Cody
Monzingo of New Braunfels and his most recent pride and joy,
great-granddaughter Macey Camille Wheelock. Jack is also survived by
his sister and her husband Jan and Ron Walter of Conroe, TX; sister
Wanda Sager and husband Norm of Milton Freewater, Oregon;
sister-in-law, Donna Cooper of Borger, TX, and many cousins, nieces,
nephews, as well as hunting and fishing buddies.
Services are to be held at 2pm on Monday April 21, 2003 at Asbury
United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Dinneen officiating. Interment
will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements by Sunset
Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Active Pallbearers are; Charlie Coon, Jerry Conner, Bob Herrin, Matt
Monzingo, Ronnie Self and Clay Wristen. Honorary Pallbearers are;
Richard Ayers, M.L. Evans, J.T. King, Jim Mooring, Jimmy Needham and
Lee Tindol.
Memorial contributions may be made to Permian Basin Rehabilitation
Center or the memorial of choice. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and
master of spinning tall tales. Jack left a lasting impact on the lives
he touched and will remain in our hearts forever.
