.... I have an obituary from the Shreveport paper for John Killen Turner, Jr., who died a couple of days ago. According to my files, he was the son of Lola Monzingo and John Killen Turner, Sr. He was my father's first cousin (a double cousin through Killens and Monzingos). Brothers are listed as George Turner of Minden, and Harold Monzingo, of White Fish, Montana.

John Killen Turner, Jr.
MINDEN, LA - Funeral services for John K. Turner, Jr. will be held Monday August 31, 2009 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Minden. Officiating will be Dr. William "Bill" Tolar, Rev. Bill Ichter, Rev. Bill Crider and Rev. Wayne DuBose. Interment will follow in Minden Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday August 30, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
John was born May 17, 1922 in Minden and entered into rest August 29, 2009 in Bossier City. He graduated from Minden High School and attended Louisiana Tech School of Engineering. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army in the 17th Airborne Division and received Combat Infantry Badge, Parachute Badge with one Bronze Star, a Bronze Star for Valor and a Victory Medal. John was retired from Barnwell Drilling Company, a member of the Truman Walker Sunday School Class, and a member of First Baptist Church Minden since early childhood.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Elizabeth Gibson Turner of Minden, brothers George Turner and wife Ruth of Minden, Harold Monzingo and wife Bettye of White Fish, Montana, nieces and nephews, Kenneth Gibson, Doris Jean Hanson, James Earl Gibson, Sandra Holtzclaw, Gaylon Wyatt, Floye Tolar, Cheryl Dawson, Reba Jackson, John Thomas Turner, Georgena Turner Lyle, Bobby Lyle, Steve Monzingo, Cindy Monzingo, and numerous other family members.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Hanson, Boyd Gibson, Gafe Gibson, Ben Gibson, Jeff Holtzclaw, and Matthew Lyle.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Carl Hines, Dr. Phillip Rozeman, Dr. Neelima Chincapalli and the staff of Christus Schumpert Cancer Center. Rose-Neath Funeral Home
