From the LaFollette Press, Thursday, October 28, 1971:
Gene Mazingo, 73, of Clairfield, died October 15 at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville.

Survivors include his wife, Hester Mazingo of Clairfield; three daughters, Mrs. Tilda Hatfield, Mrs. Edna Faye Marlow, Miss Sylvia Janice Mazingo, all of Clairfield; six sons, Billy, Clearance, Kenneth Ray, Jacob Paul, Joseph Darrell, and Henry, all of Clairfield; 17 grandchildren; one sister, Miss Stella Mazingo of Bowling Green, Fla.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 18 at the Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Elmer Russell and the Rev. Ellis Hoskins officiating. Burial in Rogerston Cemetery.

Harp Funeral Home of Jellico in charge of arrangements.
