FULTON COUNTY, GA - OBITS Maurice Mozingo

Maurice Mozingo, age 77, of LaFollette, passed away Tuesday, June 9,
1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by son,
Donald. Member of Well Springs United Methodist Church, 33rd. degree Scottish
Rite Mason, member of the Cynthia Masonic Lodge in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.
Marine Veteran of WWII, he was a member of 1st. Marine Division and fought at
Guadacanal in the South Pacific, received several citations including the
Purple Heart and Presidential Citation. Attended L.M.U. and Akron University.
Retired from Westinghouse in 1976 as regional manager and operated his own
business in Atlanta, Georgia, The Georgia Pallett Company until 1980 when he
sold his business and came back to Powell Valley to raise cattle after his
retirement. Survivors: wife, Mrs. Mary E. Mozingo, LaFollette; son, Jeffrey
Mozingo, LaFollette; two daughters, Nancy Jane Goodbread and Katherine Thomas,
both of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Cameron and Nicholas Thomas, both of
Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Silas Mozingo, Stow,Ohio; sisters, Vada Norka, Stow,
Ohio, and Betty Davis, Hammond, Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Funeral
services Friday 1 p.m. at Well Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill
Hill officiating. Interment at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs,
Georgia. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the
Hospitality House, 990 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, Tennessee 37830 or Wears
Valley Children's Ranch, 3601 Lyon Springs Road, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862.
Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday before services at
Well Springs United Methodist Church. Walters Funeral Home, LaFollette, in
charge of arrangements.
