REDDING - Robert "Bob� Monzingo, age 88, died Saturday May 26, 2007 at Sierra Oaks Senior Living of Redding, his home for the last three years. Bob was born October 12, 1918, in Wichita, Kansas and graduated high school in Fairview, Oklahoma in 1937. He was the oldest of seven children born to the late Earl and Minnie Bell Monzingo. Bob served in the U.S. Army, during WW II in the South Pacific with the 40th Infantry Division Band. In 1958 Bob married the love of his life, Sally and immediately took on the responsibility of raising her seven children. In 1961 he moved the family to Redding where he resided until his death. Bob is survived by his three brothers; Richard, John and Frank; his son Robert Jr. of Fountain Valley; stepdaughters Mary Velho of Powers, Oregon, Dr. Betz Frederick of Tempe, Arizona, and Holly Ellis of Whitmore; and stepsons Paul Coonradt, Jim Peeler of Chico, and John Coonradt of Redding. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; Ann, Veda, and Lois; wife Sally; and stepson Bill. A graveside memorial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, at Lawncrest Memorial Cemetery, 1522 E. Cypress Ave. followed by a celebration of life party at 2:30 PM at the Union Hall, 900 Locust St., Redding. Relatives and friends are welcome to join us as we share memories, listen to Dixieland Music and enjoy refreshments. Please RSVP to John at 243-9052.
