FLORENCE - Margaret Johnson Mozingo died suddenly and unexpectedly after a minor injury, Monday, July 11, 2005. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, Darlington, with interment following in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mozingo was born in Atlanta, GA, daughter of the late Olin Thomas Johnson and the late Evelyn Brock Johnson. She was the widow of the late Judge and Speaker Pro-Tem Claytor Arrants, the late Senator James Pierce "Spot" Mozingo, the late actor Cameron Mitchell, and the late entrepreneur Robert "Bobby" Rainwater. She was a native of Florence, but lived for extended periods in Los Angeles, Darlington, and Myrtle Beach.

Mrs. Mozingo particularly loved the Pee Dee area of South Carolina, and was active in both its financial and social communities. She served on the boards of several companies and on the boards of many charitable organizations, and was particularly proud to have been on the founding Board of the Billie Hardee Home for Boys. She was a member of the Florence Symphony Guild, American Cancer Society, Black Creek Land Trust, and Presbyterian Church Circles. She was a member of Darlington Presbyterian Church prior to moving her membership to First Presbyterian Church in Florence.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Brock Arrants (Ben) Oates of Darlington and her son, Thomas Aladdin Mozingo of Florence and Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, Morgan Oates (Greg) Harrison, Allison Oates (Hal) Jordan, Ronald Bentley Oates, III, Austin Thomas Oates, and Lucas Marion Oates; her faithful friend, Rubin "Preacher" Muldrow; stepsons, Dr. James Pierce Mozingo, IV, of Bishopville, and Francis Lever Mozingo of Darlington.

Mrs. Mozingo was preceded in death by a stepson, William Butler Mozingo.

In lieu of flowers or any other contributions, the family requests that all contributions be made to the Billie Hardee Home for Boys, P.O. Box 617, Darlington, SC 29540.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
