COPPELL - Asa William Monzingo, 77, a former Bowie resident, passed away Thursday, July 3,
1997, at a Lewisville hospital.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home. Burial: Flower Mound Cemetery.
Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials: American Heart Association.
Asa Monzingo was born May 7, 1920, in Hollis, Okla., to Earl and Arlie Davis Monzingo. He married
Virginia Henley on Feb. 24, 1947, in Weatherford.
Mr. Monzingo served in the Army Air Forces and Marine Corps during World War II and the
Korean War. He retired from the military in 1962. He was a member of First United Methodist
Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors: Wife, Virginia Monzingo of Coppell; daughter, Jeanette Allison of Dallas; son, William
Monzingo of Coppell; brothers, Bob Allen Monzingo of California and Joe Monzingo of Washington;

Virginia Jo Monzingo was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Paris, Texas, to Atha Denton and Neila Sarah Anna Dennis Henley. She married Asa William Monzingo on Feb. 24, 1947, in Weatherford. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Henley.

Survivors: Son, William Monzingo of Flower Mound; daughter, Jeanette Allison and her husband, Richard, of Dallas; sisters, Lorene Needs of North Richland Hills, Helen Young and her husband, Bobby, of Hurst, and Carol Jones and her husband, Gene, of Fort Worth; grandchild, Leah; great-grandchildren, Blake and Brady; and numerous nieces and nephews.
