Ila Frances Zagar
Ila Frances Zagar, age 86, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2004, at Bothwell Regional Medical Center in Sedalia. She was born on July 8, 1918 in Peru, KS, daughter of the late Rev. Charles Francis and Mabel Elizabeth Monzingo Heaton. On May 26, 1962 in Kansas City, she married Joseph J. Zagar, and they worked together as beauticians, with her also being a manicurist, at Berkson's and the Muehlebach LePetite Salon for 20 years. She later worked as a cashier at the Jefferson Market, then as a dentist's receptionist. Survivors include two sisters, Eunice (Elwood) Baumgarner of St. Louis and Bonnie (Charles) Keesling of Leesburg, FL; two nephews, Rex Baumgarner of St. Louis and Marvin (Susan) Baumgarner of Sedalia; three nieces, Bonnie Lu Baumgarner of St. Louis, Janet (Doug) Lewis of Thonotosassa, FL and Christy (Patrick) Friters of Karns City, PA; and many cousins around the country. She was preceded in death by her father in 1967, her husband in 1972 and her mother in 1980. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Stine & McClure Chapel in Kansas City followed by interment in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
