PAULINE (STEVENSON) SLAUGHTER
May 23, 1910 - April 1, 2005

Pauline (Stevenson) Slaughter, 94, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord at 4:40 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, from St. Joseph Hospital.

She was born May 23, 1910, in Kokomo, a daughter of W. Bert and Daisy (Keating) Fellows. She married William A. Stevenson Dec. 23, 1928, and he passed away Sept. 5, 1976. On Feb. 24, 1979, she married Wallace A. Slaughter Sr. and he preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1989.

A 1928 graduate of Kokomo High School, she worked as bookkeeper for the LaMode Shop, as secretary for Indiana Products Corporation, and retired in 1970 from the accounting department of Delco Electronics after 25 years of service.

A longtime member of Courtland Avenue Friends Church, she served as Sunday school secretary, Sunday school teacher and church treasurer. She was a member of the church board, the United Society of Friends Women and served as treasurer for United Church Women of Kokomo. She had also attended First Church of the Nazarene.

She and William visited many mission fields as work and witness crusaders to Haiti and different ports in the Caribbean, Columbia, Ecuador, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Beth Jeannine and Robert L. Hostetler, Kokomo, with whom she made her home the last few years; one son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Constance Stevenson, Lafayette; two stepsons, Arthur Jr. and wife Mary Jane Slaughter, Greentown, and Keith and wife Bonnie Slaughter, Kokomo; one sister, Betty Foster, Kokomo; grandchildren, Mark and wife Sharon Hostetler, Portage, Ron and wife Theresa Hostetler, Nashville, Tenn., Greg and wife Cindy Stevenson, Lafayette, Steve and wife Jane Hostetler, Mishawaka, Jeff and wife LuAnn Hostetler, Portage, Roger and wife Debra Stevenson, Los Angeles, Calif., Tim Hostetler, Kokomo, Diane and husband Jeff Gorman, South Bend, and Bruce and wife Rae Hostetler, Zionsville; stepgrandchildren, Doug Slaughter, Greentown, Deron Slaughter, Kokomo, Dana and wife Patty Slaughter, Mt. Holly, N.C., Mark and wife Dawn Slaughter, Noblesville, and David and wife Monica Slaughter, Nashville, Tenn.; 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews who were special to her.

In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by a twin brother, one grandson and one sister.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St. Her grandson, the Rev. Mark Hostetler, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service Monday at the mortuary.
