Robert Mozingo, 82, died July 21, 2003, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, from natural causes. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Eternal Hills Cha-pel. Reverend K. G. West will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Disposition was by cremation at Eternal Hills Crematory. Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mozingo was born July 18, 1921 in Maryville, Missouri, to Robert Mozingo and Minnie (West) Mozingo. He moved to Klamath Falls at age 18. He enlisted in the Army and served with distinction in the 2nd Armor, 67th Armored Regiment and was awarded six Bronze Stars and a Presidential Unit Citation fighting in Rhineland, Central Europe, Sicily, Normandy and North France campaigns.
After his discharge in 1945, he returned to Klamath Falls, where he went into the logging industry, working at various jobs before finishing as an overhead stacker operator for 17 years until his retirement from Weyerhaeuser. Mr. Mozingo married his wife Betty in Klamath Falls on July 24, 1947.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years, but he always placed spending time with his family and friends first. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Mozingo; sons and daughters-in-law Robert II and Denise Mozingo; James II and Gloria J. Mozingo; sons Donald I. Mozingo; David W. Mozingo; Christopher C. Mozingo; daughter and son-in-law Mitzi L. and Rigo Martinez; grandchildren Robert III, Ryan, Jeanette, James, Sandy, Jason, Mandy, Tricia, Forest, Megan, Rigo Jr., Carla, Crystal, Aissa, Keegan, and Cameron; great-grandchildren Ashley, Alec, Aiden, Keenan, Justin, Bethany, Michael, Nathan, Logan, Jason, Isabella, Damien, Dante, Victor, Lyna, Ulysses, Gizelle, and Jalan; brother and sister-in-law John and Lucia Mozingo; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; and neighbors and friends Art
and Evah Cooper; George, Leila, and Robert Wallencheck; and Sam and Nancy Holmes.
He ws preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ernest Mozingo, sister Neva O'Riley, and great-grandson Manuel Martinez.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to hospice in appreciation of their consistent dedication to service.
