Landers (b. Georgia). His parents were John Franklin Dutton (b. ?) and Ida Monzingo (b. Claiborne Parish, Louisiana). He was Tom W. Dutton (b. Arcadia, Louisiana) I suspect that my adoptive father may have been my real father or I may have been the illegitimate child of one of his relatives. I am the oldest of four adopted children (none of us are blood relatives) and I am the only one for whom no adoption records have been found. When my father died, we found an envelope in his bedroom with adoption records and legal papers pertaining to the adoptions of my three siblings, but absolutely nothing about me. My father and mother are both dead; my paternal aunts and uncles are dead and my paternal grandparents are dead. I have three first cousins (one is adopted) on my father's side but don't know where they are. I want to find out if I am a Monzingo by blood. Is there any way the Monzingo DNA project can assist me? I want to share this with the group and see if your take on it is the same as mine.

I have been working on recent family history (grandparents forward) and ordered a certified copy of my grandmother's death certificate to answer a question I had about her real name, i.e., was it Ida Monzingo or was it Martin Ida Monzingo. Well, I got the certificate in the mail today, and found that I was correct, her name was Martin Ida Monzingo, but the certificate raised a much larger question....

The death certificate, however, lists Ida's parents as George S. Monzingo, birthplace Minden, LA and Elizabeth Sanders, birth place London England. Am I to now believe that there were two Martin Ida Monzingos who both, coincidentally, had parents named George Monzingo and Elizabeth Sanders...
