SUMTER ? Funeral services for Mary Ellen Mozingo Copeland, 91, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006, in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Revs. Warren and Carol Copeland officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.?

Mrs. Copeland, widow of Heyward W. Copeland, formerly of Sumter, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 27, at Trident Hospital in North Charleston after a brief illness. Born June 26, 1915, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. W. A. Mozingo Sr. and Edgie Nora Weatherly Mozingo of Bishopville.

She is survived by her children, Lib Sparrow of Hartsville, the Rev. Warren (Virginia) Copeland of Catlett, Va., the Rev. Carol (Evy) Copeland of Elko Nev., Beverly Peake of Goose Creek, Earl (Linda) Copeland of Hanahan, Jeannette (Jack) Walton of Liberty, Tommy (Linda) Copeland of Cayce; brothers, W. A. (Clara) Mozingo Jr. of Wisacky, Sidney (Jessie) Mozingo of Sumter; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Wiley Franklin Copeland, and siblings, Ansel Mozingo, Rosa Lee M. Shirley, Cecil M. Heustess, Charles Mozingo, Willie M. Manship and James Mozingo.
