Deceased Name: Hugh Lee Mozingo, Jr.
of Charlotte, NC, died July 4, 1999 at Sardis Nursing Home after a long illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1900 The Plaza at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road on Thursday between 7-9:00pm.

Mr. Mozingo was born April 13, 1919 in Bishopville, SC, the son of Hugh Lee Mozingo, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth 'Bessie'' Rawls Mozingo. After graduating from Bishopville High School, he was employed by Sunoco Products Co. in Hartsville, SC.

He volunteered for the U.S. Navy during World War II and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. He received a medical discharge in July of 1944. Following his discharge he came to Charlotte and was employed by Tom Shelton at Union Oil Company on Trade Street. Later Mozingo formed his own business, Mozingo Tire Co., Inc. As his business grew he formed and became President of Delta Tire Co., Inc.

Mr. Mozingo was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for over 45 years; he served as vice chairman of the congregation and filled other church duties. He was a member of Charles M. Setzer Lodge, the Oasis Temple of The Shrine, Carmel Country Club, and the Charlotte Athletic Club. Mr. Mozingo was a ''people'' person who loved to help others.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Faye Poovey Mozingo and four children: Linda Kay Mozingo, Patricia Ann Mozingo Barnett, The Rev. Hugh L. Mozingo, III and Paul Harold Mozingo; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters, Dorothy Mozingo Stuckey, Margaret Elizabeth Mozingo Honeycutt and Martha Rebecca ''Betty'' Mozingo Vaughan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church's ''Improvement fund'' or ''Organ fund'', 1900 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28205 OR the charity of your choice. Interment services will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon Amity and Monroe Road. Harry & Bryant Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the Mozingo family.
