Mrs. Roxie Mozingo Carrington, 84, resident of Durham, died Thursday morning in Hillhaven-Rose Manor Convalescent Center following declining health. She was born in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Lafayette and Lela Bryan Mozingo. She was the wife of the late Ralph D. Carrington. She had been a resident of Durham for most of her life. She was formerly employed as a Nurses Aid with Dr. Waldo Boone. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the church's Sarah McCracken Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Durham Regional Hospital Auxillary.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph L. Carrington, Sr. of Asheville and Jim Carrington, Sr. of Durham; three sisters, Mrs. Lorine Lloyd of Roanoke Rapids, Mrs. Doris Yates of Winston Salem and Mrs. Betty Brown of Goldsboro; one brother, Ernest Mozingo of New Bern; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 AM in Clements Funeral Chapel by Rev. Richard Stanley. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Taylor, Leon (Teny) Taylor, Ronnie Wallace, Charles Wallace, Tony Rigsbee and Gaines Robertson. Flowers are acceptable or those wishing may make memorial contributions to Asbury United Methodist Church, 806 Clarendon St., Durham, N.C. 27705
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Clements Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of a son, Jim Carrington, Sr. of 5930 Scalybark.
