ANTHONY G. LANE
Anthony Ganes �Goat� Lane, 79, of Dudley, succumbed to his battle with a short-term illness at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Thursday, April 27. Mr. Lane was born September 8, 1926, to the late Jule L. and Edna Mozingo Lane who were from Mount Olive.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Rose Lane of the home; one son, Anthony W. "Tony" Lane and his fianc�e, Tracy Grimes, of Mount Olive; and three grandsons, Kaleb Lane, Tommy Thompson, and Drake Thompson, all of Mount Olive. Other survivors include a sister, Inez Lane Turner of Mount Olive; a brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Judy Lane of Pikeville; another sister-in-law, Janice Lane of Mount Olive; two nieces; two nephews, including Michael Lane and his wife Stephanie of Pikeville.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lane was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph J. Lane and Alton "Tootie" Lane; a sister, Elouise L. Flood; and a nephew, Timothy Alton Lane.
On December 13, 1949, Mr. Lane began a career with TriCounty Electric Membership Corporation. To this co-op, he dedicated 42 years of service before retiring on Jan. 2, 1990. He was a longtime member of Goldsboro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where, in his years as a member, he served as a Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school class president, church trustee, deacon, and a member of the choir.
In addition to church activities, he enjoyed barbecue and fish, NASCAR and Tar Heel basketball, his garden and his dogs. He especially enjoyed family and his grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Willard Hardison and the Rev. Pauline King officiated. Entombment was in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
