Janet Lee (Mozingo) Colson, 72, of Greensburg, passed away on July 18, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on June 12, 1934 to Lowell and Velma (Jones) Mozingo at their home near the Decatur/Bartholomew County Line. She married William S. (Bill) Colson on Sept. 5, 1952 at Monk?s Corner in Charleston, SC. She is at rest after succumbing to a liver disease suffered during the last four years of her life. She is at rest and will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by a large family including her Husband, William S. (Bill) Colson; two Sons, Larry and Jim; one Daughter, Jill (Paul) Wilson; six Grandchildren, Andrea Wright, Abby Colson, Mike Colson, Jane Wilson, Jennifer Colson, Jody Colson; four Great-grandchildren, Regan, Corbin, Jada, and Caleb, all of Greensburg; Sisters, Kay (Howard) Compton of Westport, Reita (Howard) Watson of Greensburg, Wilma (Paul) Struckman of Osgood, and Vickie (Sam) Wentzel of Greensburg; Brothers, Bud (Shirley) Mozingo of Greensburg, Stanley (Ruth) Mozingo of Osgood, Ivan Mozingo of Greensburg, Fred Mozingo of Holton, Aaron Mozingo of Osgood, Earl Mozingo of Greensburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Velma Mozingo, and an older brother Dyer who died in infancy.
She was born as the oldest daughter of a large family and raised as a farm girl around the Millhousen and Napoleon areas. She graduated from the Napoleon High School Class of 1952. After marrying Bill they settled in Greensburg after he served a four year term in the U.S. Navy. From there she spent her entire life taking much pride in raising her family and building many, many happy memories. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg at 10:00 am on Friday, July 21 with Pastor Alfred Thornton officiating. Burial will be at the Union Baptist Cemetery south of Greensburg.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that you do something special for someone, or make a donation to your favorite charity, or a donation to Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.
