Thelma Hazel Scharrer, 78, of Salem died Jan. 3, 2003, at Salem. Born April 18, 1924, at St. Joseph, Mo., she was the daughter of Jack and Hazel Effie Mozingo Shay. She married Alex Wade and to this union three children were born. She later married Ashton Scharrer. She spent her working years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters ? Barbara Murphy of Hardy, and Patricia Lovelett of Ash Flat; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashton Scharrer; her parents; a son Alex Lee Wade; and two brothers. The funeral was Jan. 8 at Campground Community Building in Ash Flat with Bruce Morris officiating. Interment was in Campground Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ashton Hester, Alex Hester, Israel Hester, Jody Hester, Michael Ruby, Richard Ruby, and Ira Gann Jr. Arrangements were under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
