Willmer Parch Mazingo Jr. 1947-2009
Willmer Parch Mazingo Jr. died peacefully at his home in Portola at the age of 61 following a recent diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme (a malignant brain tumor.)
Born Oct. 8, 1947 in Whittier, he was the only child of Neva Annie and Willmer P. Mazingo.
Bill moved to Big Pine in his youth and became valedictorian of his high school. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a master�s degree in forestry and chose to continue his love of the outdoors by pursuing a lifelong career with the U.S. Forest Service. His enjoyments included gardening, vacationing, wine tasting, dancing and managing the summertime barbecue.
He thoroughly enjoyed the retirement party held by his friends from work in 2004. He was a hard working, honest, trustworthy and loving person. During his last days the staff of Tahoe Forest Hospice and Renown Medical Center were compassionate helpers.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Ann; and daughter, Terri Ann Mazingo of Mt. Shasta.
