JAMES W. MOZINGO Oct. 30, 1931-May 30, 2009

...James William Mozingo, 77, lovingly known by his family and friends as "The Cigar Man," 206 A Mercer St., was called by our Heavenly Father to his final resting place Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at noon at Greater Guiding Star Church, 1114 S. Slocumb St., Goldsboro, with elder Joseph M. Williams Sr., M. Div., officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Goldsboro.

James was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Wayne County. He was the son of the late James O. Mozingo and Lucille Price Mozingo.

James graduated from Pikeville Training School in Pikeville. He furthered his education at Barnes Business School in Goldsboro with honors in business administration.

He served in the Armed Forces for two years and James will receive his military honors.

As he traveled up and down the many highways, one of those roads led him to his high school sweetheart, Dollie M. Horton. They were united in marriage Nov. 26, 1996, in Goldsboro. Many memories were shared for the past 12 years.

Mr. Mozingo leaves his cherished memories to a beautiful wife, Dollie Horton Mozingo of the home; one son, Curtis Mozingo and wife, Toni, of Goldsboro; two grandsons, Terell (Zenash) of Iraq and C. Tramon Mozingo of Souda Base, Greece; one granddaughter, Takiyah Mozingo of Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Saniyah Mozingo; two brothers, Jesse Mozingo and wife, Salle, of Goldsboro and Ronald Mozingo of Mount Wolf, Pa.; two sisters, Carolyn M. Artis of Goldsboro and Marilyn M. Reid and husband, Ray, of Pikeville; three sisters-in-law, Verna Core and husband, Leroy, of Dudley, Mattie Artis and husband, Frank, and Carrie B. Horton both of Pikeville; one brother-in-law, Lawyer Horton and wife, Barbara, of Dudley; one goddaughter, Lou Brooks and husband, Jimmy, of Atlanta, Ga.; special friends from Claxton, Ga., including Carolyn Grant and husband, George, and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton R. Mozingo and Aaron N. Mozingo, and a brother-in-law, John Thomas Horton.

A viewing will be held tonight at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 7. A wake will be conducted from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, with the family present to receive other family members and friends.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence of Dollie H. Mozingo, 206-A Mercer St., Goldsboro.
