Arthur Schwender, 74, of Mt. Wood Road, Wheeling, W. Va., died Friday, June 4, 2004 at Peterson Hospital. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on Nov. 14, 1929, a son of the late Ebbert and Rosealtha (Donley) Schwender. He was a retired electrician at Ohio Ferro Alloy, Brilliant, Ohio and a member of the 700 Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Harold and Eugene Schwender.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel (LaRue) Schwender; three sons, Arthur D. Schwender, Lake Wales, Fla.; Robert (Herbie) (Cheryl) Schwender, Neffs, Ohio; Ralph Schwender, Jacksonville, Fla.; two step-son, Robert (Donna) Riggs, Weirton, W.Va.; Gerald (Pat) Riggs, Stockton, Calif.; two daughters, Deborah (Rob) Murphy, Yorkville; Linda (Bob) Mayhugh, Yorkville; four sisters, Ruth Doughty, Dennison, Ohio; Grace Lannum, California; Evelyn Hartung, Bridgeport, Ohio; Eleanor Bice, Pa. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, where friends will be received Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
