Jo Mozingo
...Jawanda Ann (Jo) Begley-Mozingo was born May 24, 1934. The eldest child of Floyd Woodrow Begley and Lenora Dovie Moore-Begley in Kellyville, Okla. She attended school at Central High School in the community of Hanson, near Sallisaw. Following that, she attended Connors State College in Muskogee.
Jo loved sports. She was an avid bowler and pitched for her church softball team until retiring in her late 60s. She was always on hand cheering on the efforts of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in their athletic pursuits. Her other passion was cards; she could play and win at any game known. She continued to play with the local bridge club until very recently and made many lifelong friends through the fellowship generated in their gatherings.
Jo moved with her family to Pryor in 1971 and, shortly thereafter, obtained her Realtors license. She went on to become one of the premiere real estate brokers in Mayes County. She was an extremely successful and respected member of Pryors business community and a pioneering example of female entrepreneurship in Mayes County.
Jo was a lifelong Christian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pryor for more than 30 years. She never met a stranger and was loved throughout the community for her likable personality and Christian compassion for her fellow man.
Family was the most important focus of Jos life. She was a strong matriarch of the family. She always said she was happiest when surrounded by her family. Anyone who knew her will fondly remember Granny Jo. Her gentle and loving touch will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Mozingo of Pryor; one brother, Clinton Begley of Pryor; one sister, Elaine and Greg Adams of Sallisaw; her daughter, Myrl and Rick Hallman of Olive, Okla.; her daughter, Jana Warren of Broken Arrow; her son, Troy J. (T.J.) Morehouse and wife Betsy of New York City; her stepdaughters, Debbie Ritchie of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Sherri and Danny Fair of Broken Arrow; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews; and hundreds in her extended family of friends, neighbors and business associates.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Lenora Begley of Sallisaw; and one brother, Clayton Edward Begley of Oologah, Okla.
We shall never forget you, our most precious Jo.
Donations can be made in her name to the Gideons Bible fund at P.O. Box 953, Pryor, OK 74362. It is most fitting that her legacy be established and eternally maintained through the salvation by Jesus Christ of others.
