THE REV. JOHN T. MOZING March 29, 1937-May 2, 2008
Funeral services for the Rev. John T. Mozingo, 71, of Waynesboro, were held Sunday, May 4, 2008, from the Freeman Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, with the Rev. Daryl Lloyd, the Rev. Mack Carney and the Rev. Robert Lee McLain officiating. Interment was in the West Shady Grove Cemetery in Wayne County. Born March 29, 1937, Mozingo was a native of Wayne County, and had been self-employed in the upholstery trade. He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. The Rev. Mozingo served as pastor of Central Baptist Church for four years, and had been Wayne County's Beat 4 Election Commissioner for 16 years. He died Friday, May 2, 2008, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Mozingo of Waynesboro; his son, Anthony Mozingo and wife Janella of Waynesboro; his sister, Loy May Walters of the Strengthford community; two grandchildren, James Thomas Mozingo and Brian Tyler Mozingo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlie A. Mozingo; his mother, Bertha L. Mozingo; a brother, William H. Mozingo; and three sisters, Juanita Mozingo, Myrtle Hickman and Mary E. Pitts. Freeman Funeral Home of Waynesboro was in charge of arrangements.
