Mary Clara MONZINGO, "Mollie", daughter of Thomas MONZINGO and Mary Ann Rebecca SANDERS , was born 16 January 1862 in LA. She died 11 April 1951 in Arlington, Tarrant Co, TX.

A. W. COLLINS
A. W. Collins, 73, one of Arlington�s first business men died at his residence, 111 North Street, at midnight Sunday. Services were held at the home at 3 o�clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.
Coming to Texas in 1875 and settling in Arlington, Mr. Collins married Miss Mollie Monzingo in 1880. Three years later he opened a mercantile store.
Mr. Collins gave Arlington its first electric light plant and its first waterworks. He and John Ditto donated the land for an educational institution, which now is the North Texas Agricultural College. Five months ago he and Mrs. Collins celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Survivors, besides his wife, are two sons, T. G. Collins, Grand Prairie, and E. L. Collins, Fort Worth; two daughters, Mrs. M. S. Harrell, Fort Worth, and Mrs. A. D. Hutchenson, Arlington; and a brother, William Collins, Winnsboro, Texas.
Pallbearers were W. M. Douglas, Chester Ferris, Will Turck, Will Pulley, W. B. Collins, and E. C. West.
Pastors officiating were Rev. W. T. Rouse, Rev. S. M. Bennett, Rev. J. H. Stewart and Rev. C. A. Statham.

1. "ARLINGTON, TEXAS, Birthplace of the Metroplex "
A plot of land was sold to Messrs. Hammond and Trimble for college buildings by J.W.Ditto and A.W.Collins. Their wives, Mrs.M.A. Ditto and Mrs. M.C. Collins also signed the transfer. The book cites the price as $500, but the deed itself shows a price of $5.( See Vol. 112, pp. 484-487 and copy of deed in file.) - Oct. 5, 1895.
2.From above book, pp. 126 -
"A rousing meeting was held to raise necessary funds to secure the boy's school. A number of men bought college stock and also gave cash. Among them were: W. M. Dugan, Dr. M. H. Cravens, John W. Ditto, A.W. Collins and J.H. Watson."
3. The above book, pp. 135-136, states that A.W. Collins was one of the directors of the Citizens National Bank.
4. The above book, pp. 142-143, says that after work at A.W. Collins' corn shelling plant,the belt of the steam engine was switched from the corn sheller to a dynamo,which supplied lights for about 50 downtown stores and a few homes.- Sept. 22,1904.
5. The above book, pp. 153, states that the Arlington Light and Power Co. had obtained a franchise to put in a system of water works all over the city of Arlington. The work was being superintended by A.W. Collins, president of the company.- June 22,1905.
6. The above book, pp. 154, states " Electric Plant Enlarged. A $10,000 investment by A.W. Collins, W.C. Weeks, W.M. Dugan and Col. Spruance will be spent to make an addition to Mr. Collins' shelling plant to house a new and larger generating unit. New lines are to be built. Direct current of 220 volt will still be used. According to the story which appeared in the Journal."- March 3, 1906.
7. "Arlington - A Pictoral History" by Harris & Joyner - Pg. 102
States A.W.Collins lived at Mesquite and North Streets in 1918. There is a photo. It is a Methodist Church parking lot now (1-24-98).
8.Newspaper article, undated, from scrapbook with Little Boy on it, states:
"Mr. & Mrs. A.W.Collins had Christmas Dinner at there home on N. Mesquite St." It says that in attendance were M&M M.S.Harrell and sons from Amarillo, M&M Ernest Collins from Ft. Worth, M&M T.G.Collins from Grand Prairie. Mother and Dad were there too, and they weren't yet married.
9.Newspaper article, undated, from scrapbook with blue, pink and purple flowers on it, states:
"Mr. and Mrs. A.W.Collins hosted a Christmas Party" In attendance were M&M T.G.Collins, children Celeste & Thomas, M&M M.S.Harrell, children Mack & Robert.
