This indenture made this 20th day of June 1879 between Patience Mooring of the
first part & W. H. Dail & Bro of the second part, all of the Co. of Greene &
State of N. C.; Witnesseth, that s'd Patience Mooring for & in consideration of
the sum of One hundred dollars to her in hand paid the receipt and payment of
which is here by acknowledged, has bargained, sold & conveyed & by her doth
bargain, sell, and convey unto s'd W. H. Dail & Bro, their heirs, exr's,
admin's, & assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in Greene
Co. in Snow Hill Township, & bounded as follows; all of my interest in a tract
of land formerly belonging to Susan Mooring, adjoining the lands of Jno.
Mooring, Jas Hemby, Wm. Mozingo containing thirty nine acres more or less, my
interest being on third of s'd land. To have and to hold the afores'd as is of
land to them the s'd W. H. Dail & Bro their heirs, exr's, admin's & assigns
forever. The consideration of the foregoing obligations is such that whereas
the before mentioned Patience Mooring is justly indebted to to s'd W. H. Dail
& Bro in the sum of One Hundred Dollars due by note and the interest according
therein, this deed & any part thereof shall be void & of no effect; otherwise
to remain in full force & virtue. And it is further understood and agreed that
in case the s'd Patience Mooring shall fail to pay off s'd note & interest when
due, this the s'd W.H. Dail & Bro are authorized and empowered to advertise the
s'd land at the Court House door & other public places in Greene Co. for thirty
days & after such advertisement sell the same for cash, at the Court House door
in Snow Hill, & carry the same by deed to the purchased and out of the proceeds
of such sale pay the s'd before mentioned debt & interest & all the necessary
expenses of making & executing this and the balance remaining if any they shall
pay over to s'd Patience Mooring or her legal representatives. In witne
whereof the s'd Patience Mooring hath hereinto set her hand & seal this 20th
day of June 1879.

William Mozingo was my great grandfather. He was born approx. 1855 based on his age listed as 25 on the 1880 Greene Co., NC census. He died on June 13, 1928 and is buried at Harrel's Chapel, Greene Co., NC. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Dawson, born Oct 30, 1854, died July 1, 1926 also buried at Harrel's Chapel, Greene Co., NC. Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of Lemuel Dawson and Argent Bright Lassister of Institute, Lenoir Co., NC.

Children born to the above marriage:
Dora Elizabeth Mozingo, b. Mar 17 1879, died Feb 23 1963 and married to Dallas Ham.
Mertie Mozingo, married to David Gurganus.
Fannie Mozingo, married to John Ham.

Henry Mozingo, born Feb 2, 1885, Greene Co., NC, died May 14 1959 Snow Hill, Greene Co., NC. Buried in Snow Hill Cemetary. Maried Claudia Moore Jan 28 1906 in Arba, NC. (This was my grandfather and grandmother)

I have not been able to determine the father of William Mozingo. I do know that his brother Edward was killed at an early age. He was thrown from a wagon around Jason, NC and hit his head on a stump beside the road. We believe this is the only sibling of William. Greg

...Mary Elizabeth Dawson was the daughter of Lemuel Dawson and Argent Bright Lassiter. I may have mis-typed the surname in my first e-mail. I have not been able to find the parents of William. I have inquired with the Mozingo famililies in Pitt, Lenoir, Greene and Duplin Counties, they are not aware of any kinship to William Mozingo. Mary Elizabeth's family was very prominent in the Lenoir County area of Institute. My grandfather was of rather small stature, about 5'4" tall. He was a wagon maker in the Greene County area. I understand that his father, William, was a rather large man. My uncle told me that he remembered him as a child and he was very strong and had coal black hair...
