  1. Family Records of John Richard Mozingo, Nelson Edward Mozingo: born about 1831, Darlington District. Married Julia J. McKenzie:born 10 Jan 1831, Darlington District, (daughter of James McKenzie and Epsey Fields) died 25 Mar 1901, buried at Hebron United Methodist Church, Lee County, SC. Nelson Edward died 20 Mar 1863 at Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, Virginia; he is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia; he served in Co. M, 8th SC Infantry, CSA. [*These are my great-great grandparents.] [It is not known for sure where Julia J. McKenzie is buried. One possibilty is that she is the "Mrs. J.J. Mozingo" buried at Hebron: Jan 10, 1831-Mar 25, 1901. This particular stone was erected by two of Julia's nephews, "H.H. & W.M. McKenzie," (this is engraved on the stone itself). Furthermore "Mrs. J.J. Mozingo" is buried next to a bordered section of McKenzies that are allJulia's family, including the two nephews who erected the stone. However, the 1900 Stokes Bridge census lists "Julia J. McKenzie" as being born in "May/1824" and her age as "76" (which does not match the birthdate of the stone) and that she is living with two nephews: "Homer H. McKenzie" and"W. Maxie McKenzie." However, the census does lists her as a "widow" which would be correct.] Children: 12. i Edward Mozingo: born about 1852. 13. ii Unknown Mozingo: born about 1854. [The 1860 Darlington District census lists a five-year-old female child in the household of N.E. and Julia J. Mozingo. There is no name listed for this child, just what appears to be the initial "H" followed by at least one other initial which I could not identify.] 14. iii Epsey A. Mozingo: born about 1856, Darlington District. No issue; probably died young. 15. iv James McKenzie "Mack" Mozingo: born about 1857, Darlington District. Married Susannah Prudence Hicks. James died 4 Aug 1881, buried at Hebron United Methodist Church, Lee County,SC. [James Mack, along with his brother Rufus, were both killed by a lightning strike at the home of Henry Clyburn.] + 16. v Rufus B. Mozingo: born about 1859. + 17. vi William Wallace "Martin" Mozingo: born 7 Dec 1860. + 18. vii Louisa Victoria Mozingo: born 28 Aug 1862.
