...Of the four letters I sent out concerning the Mozingo surname (some included Elks & Pollard), I have had one returned with "Deceased" (Lucille Summrell), and another wonderful letter from Virginia Stultz. She confirmed that Addie Mozingo descended from the daughter of William Elks and SECOND wife Arcena, Mary Elizabeth Elks. This Mary Elizabeth Elks was the wife of THOMAS MOZINGO!

Virginia said that before her mother (Gertrude Elks Holdford) died, she gave Virginia most of these names; and the dates she obtained from the Courthouse, Census, films at LDS Library, and other places. HER ancestors were William Elks and his FIRST wife, Rebecca. She's sure about the names but says she may have made mistakes in dates or something else and asks that I send her corrections/additions of anything I find out.

She gave me the following:
Thomas F. MOZINGO, b. May 1859 in Green, NC, died 1957, Grenville twp, Pitt, NC. Married Apr. 11, 1878 in Farmville, Pitt, NC. His second spouse was Bette. Husband's father was William MOZINGO and mother was Chloe Ann CUNARD or COWARD.
Mary Elizabeth ELKS, b. 3 Jan 1856 in Pitt, NC, died 2 Jul 1908 in Pitt, NC, Greenville twp. Her father was William A. ELKS and mother Arcenia. (I didn't realize Thomas married again--Mary died 1908 and he
married Bette in 1911.)...

OK--parents of Thomas F. Mozingo are William MOZINGO, b abt 1830 in NC, and Chloe Ann CUNARD or COWARD, b. abt 1835 in NC. Children were:
Ellick Mozingo, b abt 1853 in NC,
John Mozingo, b abt 1854 in NC, and
Thomas F. Mozingo, b May 1859 in Green, NC
