The next day Jennifer and the Backstreet Boys got settled into their hotel in New Jersey.
Meanwhile...back in New York at the Rolling Stone studio...
"Now what are we going to do with this Jennifer and Justin story" Amy asked the table of writers and editors surrounding her.
"Didnt Justin interview her?" one of the writers asked
"Yes, but its not going to work" Amy replied
"Why?" several people respinded
"Because its a crappy interview. We have these hot, sexy Rolling Stone photo's, and a Teen BEat like article" David Casaner, the editor in chief of Rolling Stone interupted
"We need something that everyone will have to read" Amy continued, "something big."
"How about the fact that her and a Backstreet Boy got something goin' on?" Melanie Lasey, arguably one of the best writers at Rolling Stone, said.
"What?" David and Amy asked in unison
"Well, as you know, you sent me to that Backstreet concert last night. Well, I was backstage and I saw those 2 together showing a little PDA" Melanie said with a smile
"That would make an interesting twist to the story" David said, "But we need proof, like a quote"
"I can definately take care of that" Melanie assured him
"Ok, and I need it ASAP!" David added
"Well if she is dating a Backstreet Boy, then what was she doing flirting with an NSync guy?" Mark asked from the back of the room
"What?" David asked
"They were flirting so badly at the photo shoot, its all on tape because E! Entertainment wanted to do some story on it, so they filmed it" Mark said
"Oh yeah, I remember them asking David said "Great! If we can get a quote then we have one hell of a story!" David said as he dismissed them all.
Melanie immediately left for New Jersey, armed with a tape player and a camera.
When she arrived at the hotel they were staying at, she found Jennifer easily. Sarah and Jennifer had gone down to the gift shop to buy some candy. Melanie approached them and said Hi enthusiastically
"Hi" they replied in unison.
Before Melanie could say anything else Nick came up behind Jennifer and greeted her with a kiss.
"Hey sweetie" she said to him
"Hey sexy" he said as he looked up and realized Sarah and Melanie were watching them, trying not to laugh.
"Uh oh, be right back" he said as his phone started ringing.
"Your boyfriend is pretty cute" Melanie said to Jennifer.
Jennifer decided that this woman did not care about the backstreet boys, or herself, so she replied "Yeah thanks, I think so too"
"I miss my boyfriend" Melanie continued
"Aww, I'm sorry" Jennifer and Sarah said to the strange woman.
"Its ok. I just miss my Nick Carson" she said adly
"Thats weird, Jenn's boyfriends name is Nick Carter" Sarah said, trying to lighten the moment. Jennifer gave Sarah a look, indicating she didnt want Sarah to announce to a store that she and Nick were dating. Sarah dropped the subject quickly.
"Well, I think I better go" Melanie said as Nick was approaching them.
"Bye" the girls called in unison
"Who was that?" Nick asked as he came up to them
"We have no idea" Jennifer said
"It was weird" Sarah added
"She looked familiar" Nick said as he picked out some candy
"That was definately weird" Jennifer added
The next day...
"I got it" Melanie said as she walked into David's office
"Great, lets hear it" David said as he looked up from his computer screen.
Melanie played the conversation and looked at David for a response.
"Thats great Mel" he said. "How about you take on this story. Mark has the tape of Justin"
"Thank you so much" Melanie said. "I'll get started right away" she said as she left them room. She was so excited that she was in charge of perhaps one of the biggest story's in pop music: The cutest Backstreet Boy was taken!
At the show that night...
"Good job guys" Jennifer said after they finished a successful performance.
"Yeah, go us!" Alyssa said laughing
"Lets go watch the boys perform" Sarah suggested after they changed
"I think I'll stay here" Caitlyn said
"You guys go, I'll be out later" Jennifer said as Sarah and Alyssa went to watch the Backstreet Boys perform
"Wanna talk?" Jennifer asked Caitlyn after Sarah and Alyssa were out of sight
"Not really"
"Ok"
"I hate him" Caitlyn finally said
"Brian?"
"Yes. I cant believe he lied to me for sex. Thats about the lowest thing anyone could have ever done."
"I know"
"I mean, how could he do such a thing"
"I dont know. But it looks like he's learned his lesson. I mean he hasnt spoken to anyone since that day."
"Yeah, but that doesnt make me feel any better. And I mean, if he really loved me then he would have tried to talk to me by now, but apparently he doesnt."
"Maybe he's afraid"
"Of what?"
"I dont know"
"Thats what I thought"
