Heartbroken

Chapter Index

"That was amazing" Jennifer said, as the lights came back on in the dark amphitheater.

"Not as amazing as you" Justin replied coyly.

"Charming" Jennifer said with a sexy grin as he helped her out of the seats.

"So how about we go get some dessert or something?" Justin suggested.

Jennifer looked at him. She knew she shouldnt, but he looked so irresistable. She couldnt turn him down. "Sure" Jennifer finally said. She couldnt help but feel a little bit guilty.

Meanwhile... "Hey Nick" Howie yelled down the hall to Nick, who was inserting the key card in the door of his room.

"Hey" Nick replied unenthusiastically

"Whats the matter?" Howie asked, sensing Nicks sadness

"Have you seen Jenn?" Nick asked, his sad blue eyes looked up at Howie.

"No man, I'm sorry" he replied.

"I knocked on her door and no one answered. Where the fuck could she be?" he said, half angry, half hurt. He kicked the hotel room door open.

"Calm down Nick" Howie said, his tone reassuring.

"I've never been this upset over a girl. A fucking girl. There are millions on beautiful women that want me and the only one I want hates me" he said angrily.

Howie had rarely seen Nick this upset. He knew he had to get his mind off Jennifer. "Lets go get some dessert" Howie kindly suggested.

"I dont know" Nick said solemnly

"Come on, what else are you going to do, sit here and think about her. Lets go" Howie said, coaxing his friend out the door.

A little while later

"Here it is" Justin said, his face beaming. He led Jennifer into a tiny ice cream shop called 'Ice Dream' located just off the busy streets of Las Vegas.

"How cute" Jennifer said as they were escorted to a table in the back on the restaurant. Their server politely handed them their menus and left them to decide what to order.

"So what looks good?" Justin asked, leaning closer to her.

"Well, the banana split looks good, but I could never eat something that big" Jennifer said with a smile.

"Your right, that does look good" Justin agreed. "We could split one" he suggested

Jennifer thought for a moment. "Yeah sure" she finally said.

Meanwhile...

Brian, trying to forget the strange behavior of his girlfriend that night, pulled Caitlyn close to him and began kissing her.

"Wait" she said, backing away

"What now" Brian asked impatiently. What had come over her tonight.

"I want some real dessert first" she said, grabbing her coat and purse and walking towards the door, leaving an even more confused Brian to just stand there.

"Caitlyn, wait" Brian called after her, grabbing his coat.

"What is going on with you tonight?" he asked, chasing her down the hall to the elevator.

"Nothing" she responded. The truth was, so was not turned on at all and not in the mood after trying to protect her friend all night. She needed a boost of energy in order to please poor Brian.

"You have been acting strange all night" Brian said, hoping it wouldnt anger her at all, but still feeling the need to say it.

"Sorry" was all Caitlyn said as she angrily pushed the buttons in the elevator.

All Brian could do was stand there and hope she would open up to him.

Meanwhile...

"Here we go" Howie said as he approached the ice cream shop called Ice Dream, followed closely by Nick. "This place has great banana splits" Howie added, trying to please his upset friend.

"Cant wait" Nick said, trying to sound enthusiastic, as he opened the door and told the server there were 2 of them.

"Right this way" she said, leading them towards the back of the restaurant...

At the same time...

"Hurry up Brian" Caitlyn impatiently called as she opened the door to the Ice Dream ice cream shop. "I'm hungry"

"Coming" Brian said as he ran to catch up with her.

"Table for 2, preferably in the back" Caitlyn told the hostess politely.

"Right this way" the server said, directing them to the back of the restaurant....

Moments Earlier...

"Here you go" the waitress said, placing a giant banana split in front of Justin and Jennifer

"This looks good" Jennifer said

"Oh yeah" Justin agreed, picking up a spoon.

Jennifer went to get the other spoon, but accidentaly dropped it on the ground. "Uh oh" she said, feeling a little clumsy

"Not a problem" Justin said, getting a spoonful of ice cream and feeding it to Jennifer.

At the very moment...

"Hey Howie, what was it you said about those banana splits" Nick said, his eyes filling with tears of sadness

"They are really good" Howie said, not realizing what Nick just saw

"Apparently" Nick said, refering to Jennifer and Justin, whom he had just spotted in the back corner

"Uh oh" was all Howie could choke out

"Nick? Howie?" Caitlyn said, coming up behind them. She noticed they were staring over in one direction and she followed their gaze. "Oh no, now thats it" Caitlyn screamed. "I've had enough" she continued. She ran over to Jennifer's table and began to yell at her. Jennifer was caught off guard by her friend's actions. "Now you listen here" Caitlyn screamed. By now the whole restaurant was watching in silence. "I have spent the whole night trying to make sure NO ONE found out that you were out on a date or whatever with Justin, but this is too much. I ruined my WHOLE NIGHT over protecting your sorry ass. Now you have a wonderful man over there that is deeply in love with you and has been sad all day. But apparently you dont care" Caitlyn continued.

Jennifer, now humiliated and mad, stood up and began to defend herself. "Caitlyn, I never asked you to protect me and I wish you would mind your own business. I wasnt the one that screwed up my relationship with Nick, and the truth is, if you love him so much, YOU DATE HIM" she screamed back as she pushed past Caitlyn.

Caitlyn just stood there. She watched Jennifer leave, followed by Justin. Nick, with tears streaming down his face, just stood there. Caitlyn, Brian and Howie all tried to comfort him, but it was to late, he was completely heartbroken.

Meanwhile...

Jennifer left the restaurant and was walking down the street crying. Justin managed to catch up to her.

She looked over at him. Their eyes met. "I'm sorry" he finally said. She stopped walking.

"Its not your fault" she replied before continuing down the street.

"But I feel responsible" Justin said

"Dont, this is between me and Nick and apparently now Caitlyn" she said. "Listen Justin, I had a wonderful time tonight, but I think I have some things to work out tonight, so I better get back to the hotel." she said as she waved a taxi over.

"I understand" he said, giving her a hug good night. "And remember, if you need a someone to listen, or even a shoulder tyo cry on, you know how to reach me" he added as she got into the car.

"Thanks" she said with a smile
