Hold It Together

It's alive.
It's a wire.
It's a missile and it's locked it's sight on.
Power wave.
Transformer hum
like the whole world has left it's lights on.
Can we stand up, wake up,
look up for the next sign?
Or will this finally,
maybe,
we'll see,
be the last time?

Let's just hold it together.
For now.

It's a rush
It's a dive
It's the sky opening up on Sunday.
We don't know what it all means
but it's going to mean something, someday.
Can we hold on,
keep grip,
pull up through the long climb?
And will we find the turn of mind
to catch the next rhyme?

Let's just hold it together.
for now.

'Cause it's all going away.
It could happen any day
and we'll surely have to pay
for what we should have really saved.

It's a house
on a hill higher up from where we're living
somewhere
and they say you can see clear
but this blindness makes it hard to get there.
So I'd rather not go slashing
into nighttime
when there's still a chance
I'll get to see the light shine.

Let's just hold it together for now.
