"NNOOOOOOOO!" Nick screamed. "NO, you're lying! You must be... it can't be true..." he fell down to his knees. His face was pale.
"It can't be..." he mumbled over and over again.
"Do you want to see her, one last time?" the doctor asked.
Nick looked up and met his eyes. He suddenly arose from the floor and took off runnning down the hallway. Brian and Leighanne just stared after him. Sure they were all very much aware that something like this could happen... but it still came as a shock.
"I'll... I'll go after him" Brian said, walking off in the same direction as Nick had. He came to the elevator and stepped inside.
"Hmm... wonder where he went?" he said outloud.
Brian went down with the elevator to the ground floor, and decided to look outside first.
"Bingo!" he thought as he saw a blonde young man known as his best friend, sitting leaned up against a tree. Brian approached him. As he got closer he saw that Nick's eyes were closed but tears were streaming down his cheeks.
"Leave me alone" Nick said.
Brian said nothing. He sat down next to Nick. Neither of them said anything for the next couple of minutes.
"Why Brian?" Nick sniffed.
Brian sighed. "I don't know buddy. I wish I did though."
"How am I supposed to live without her?"
"I don't know that either, I've never lost anyone that close before. But now you have a little girl to live for, and take care of!" Brian said.
"I don't care" Nick said, still keeping his eyes closed.
"Yes you do!" Brian said getting angry.
"No I don't!" he said, then instantly felt guilty. "You're right... I do care. But how the hell could I take care of her? I'm fucking 19 years old! I know nothing about parenting what so ever. I'll only mess up that poor kid's life!" Nick said looking miserable.
"No you won't. And you have 4 other brothers that will help ya, along with your family and other friends!" Brian said putting his arms around Nick's shoulders.
"I can't do it without her. God, I finally found her... only to lose her again. Forever! This is all too much. I didn't ask for a kid. And here I am supposed to raise her all by myself?"
Brian gave Nick a sympathetic look. He couldn't possibly understand what Nick went through, but did the best he could to comfort his friend.
"Come on let's go back!" Brian said grabbing Nick's arm. Nick nodded and stood up.
"Everything's gonna be fine, Nick"

~3 weeks later~
Nick sighed and hopped into his Durango. Today was the day that he would bring home little Morgan from the hospital. Since she was premature they had transferred her to Tampa General, where they would keep her for observation. He had visited her every day. The funeral had been the week before, and Nick was still a little upset about it. His parents had taken the news about the baby better than he had thought. His mother had first been angry with Nick for having sexual contact with a minor, but knew there was no point in arguing. Instead she offered him to help out with Morgan, whenever he needed to. Especially in the beginning, when everything was new to him. His siblings were thrilled to have a little niece.
Nick parked the car in the hospital parking lot, and went inside the huge building. He found his way to the child ward, and asked at the reception if she was ready.
"Follow me please" the receptionist said.
They entered the nursery, and Nick walked by all the cribs holding tiny infants until he finally found the one with Morgan's name on it. He carefully picked up the sleeping baby, and held her gently against his chest. He walked back to the waiting receptionist.
"Now if you would follow me back to sign her release form, so you could be on your way soon" she said. They walked back, and she handed Nick some papers which he quickly signed the best he could.
"You do have a car seat, don't you?" she asked.
"Yes" Nick said smiling.
"Well... good luck then!"
"Thanks" Nick said, and left the hospital.
He had some trouble strapping her in the car seat at first, but got it after awhile. He started the engine, and drove away.
"Would you like to listen to some music?" he asked his sleeping daughter. She didn't respond of course.
"I take that as a no" he said half-smiling.
Nick turned the car into the drive way to his large house. Their house now. He took her out of the car and carried her inside.
"So... you wanna go for the grand tour?" he asked her. He walked around with her, into all the different rooms of his home.
"This is the kitchen. This is where you get all the good stuff for your tummy" he said tickeling her little stomach as he said the word 'tummy'. He walked over to the fridge, and opened it.
"There's some pizza" he said pointing to a white carton. "But that's not good for you. Look what daddy made for ya" he said taking out a bottle with baby formula. He closed the fridge door and walked out of the kitchen.
"Here we got the living room. But that's boring... let's go see something else ok?"
Nick took her upstairs, and opened the first door on the left.
"Now this is daddy's room. It's a bit messy, like always. This is where daddy sleeps, and stuff. You wanna see your room?"
He opened the door right next to his, and for the first time Nick noticed that Morgan's eyes were open.
Nick smiled.
"Good morning sleepy head!" he said kissing her forehead.
They entered the newly made nursery. Nick had spent hours and hours for the past weeks trying to get it perfect. The walls were painted in light pink, decorated with teddy bears in dark pink. The guys, especially Brian, had come over and helped out whenever they could. A huge 5 feet teddy bear was sitting in the corner. That one had cost a fortune, but Nick didn't care. He was going to spoil his daughter rotten, whether she wanted to or not.
"This is your room. Nice, eh?"
All Morgan did was yawn.
"You tired? You've been sleeping all day!" Nick said amazed. "But alright. Let's go take a nap". He placed her in the crib and tucked her in.
"Good night baby" he said kissing his finger tips and then touched her little forehead.
He turned off the lights and left the room. As soon as he reached the stairs he heard his daughter's faint cry. He ran as quickly as he could back to the nursery.
"Aww honey" he said picking her up, and held her against his chest, rubbing her little back.
"You wanna take a nap with daddy? Yeah, come on let's go". He took her to his room. He lay himself on his huge king-size bed, with little crying Morgan curled up on his stomach. He rubbed her back back and forth and sang softly a lullaby to his daughter.
"Hush little cowgirl
No reason to cry
Your papa will sing you a sweet lullaby
Go to sleep cow girl
No reason to fear
'Cause all through the night I'll be here
I'll round up the moon for your pillow
A blanket of stars for your bed
I'll round up the dreams of tomorrow
To write all the good times ahead
Close your eyes cowgirl
Your papa is here
And all through the night I'll be here
Loving you, holding you
Ever so dear
And all through the night I'll be here
'Cause all through the night I'll be here"
Soon both him and Morgan were sound asleep.

Brian walked around the house carrying Cooper who was being fussy. He should have gone down for his little afternoon nap about an hour ago, but just wouldn't fall asleep.
"Aren't we tired today huh?" Brian said to his son. "What do you wanna do then?"
Cooper was staring up at his father, with his huge baby blue eyes, and his mouth hanging open like a fish like he was watching him in amazement.
Brian chuckled at the sight.
"Don't tell me I'll have to sign you an autograph too, little buddy" he said smiling.
Brian and Leighanne tried not to think too much about Cooper's condition, and treated him normally. Though there were many nights both of them cried themselves to sleep, they always put on a happy face during the days for Cooper.
Brian turned on the radio to reveal the beginning of "All I Have To Give". He smiled and walked over to one of the large couches in the living room. He sat down with Cooper still in his protecting arms. Brian started humming along as Nick's opening part came. He sang softly to his own lead.
"I don't care if he buys you nice things
Does his gifts come from the heart
I don't know
But if you were my girl
I'd make it so that we'd never be apart..."
He stopped and looked down at his little boy to find him smiling and gargling. Brian held out his finger and soon felt how the little infant in his arms grabbed it and put it in his own mouth.
Brian laughed as his little son was sucking on his finger like if it was a pacifier. He couldn't describe all the emotional feelings inside of him. Being a daddy was the most amazing and wonderful thing that had ever happened to him. It was truly larger than life.
"Man... both Nick and I have become parents, in just a matter of 3 months" he thought to himself. "Who would have thought?"
He saw that Cooper was finally beginning to doze off and slowly arose from the couch.
"Come one buddy, let's hit the sack!" Brian said and began walking off towards the stairs.
As he was climbing the stairs he started whistling 'Baby Love'. He reached the top and walked across the hall until he reached the nursery. The room had a blue theme, so almost everything was in different shades of blue. The walls were painted in baby blue. The crib was bright blue, with dark blue bed clothes.
Brian walked over to the crib and gently put Cooper down. Instantly Cooper was starting to cry.
"What's wrong huh?" Brian said in a baby voice. "Cooper need to change?"
He assumed that was the problem and picked Cooper up again, and carried him over to the changing table. He took out a clean diaper from the cabinet underneath.
Brian took his son by the feet and lifted Cooper's little behind up in the air and placed the diaper underneath him.
"There we go!" Brian said and leaned in to blow Cooper's tummy.
Brian picked him up and carried him back to the crib to tuck him in. He bent over and kissed his son on his little forehead.
"G'night buddy" Brian said and turned the lights off and left the room.
Leighanne was waiting outside.
"Aww, you're so sweet baby. You're the best daddy ever!" he said enveloping him into a hug.
Brian smiled. "Thanks honey. You're the greatest mom too!"
"Daddy wanna go to bed?" Leighanne said with a huge grin on her face.
Brian got the hint.
"Sure! I think Cooper seems awfully lonely in there! He needs someone to play with..."
"Let's go!"
