Winter Dreams
Getting through a Long Cold Winter
This winter, the winter of 2004, was not an
easy one to endure, with plenty of snow, ice, chilly winds, leaden skies, not to
mention a war in Iraq that brought terrible news almost daily. I longed for
other times, even though knowing that other times had their own calamities and
would have been no easier to live in. There are moments, nonetheless, in all
times and climates, when joy whirls its way from some remote interior reach in the
soul, making a home for a while in your heart, a warm presence. During this time, the outside world
can be forgotten, if not forgiven, and all the eye takes in seems to glimmer with divine
intent.
