Brian was born on February 20, 1975 in Lexington, Kentucky. He got together with the group when his cousin Kevin Richardson, also a part of the band, called him up. He was in American Geography class at Tates Creek High when the phone call came. He flew to Orlando, Florida later that afternoon where he met the rest of the boys for the first time. Nick and him are best friends in the group. Brian has a bad medical history, because when he was born, he had a hole in his heart. Brian almost died at the age of 5 when he was playing in the backyard of his home when suddenly he fell to the ground unconscious and went through a number of seizures. He was taken to the hospital where doctors saved his life. Fifteen years later, the doctors did their quarterly check-up on him and found that his heart was getting larger and larger. They came to the conclusion that they would soon have to do open heart surgery to correct the problem. Brian put off the surgery four times to go on tour with back up ventalators back stage ready for him just in case. In May, 1998, Brian went under open heart surgery as the rest of the boys went to Monte Carlo to the World Music Awards. While there, they dedicated their award for best dance group to him and sang "All I Have To Give", one of their chart toppers in his name. Also while there, Kevin choked up while dedicating it to him. (Aww!!) He is now happily recovering. (Yea!) It's also been a rough year for him because in October of 1998, Kevin and Brian lost their grandfather to cancer and had to cancel a show. But since then, things have been going great!!
