Chapter Three

A month and a half later, I was on my way to Florida. Most of my stuff had been shipped down the week before and Nick had flown up to make the drive with me. My parents, my sister, Kara, my brother, Michael, and my sister’s boyfriend, Matt, all stood outside my house as Nick and I put the last few things into my Jeep Cherokee. When everything was loaded I went over to say goodbye to my family.

“Bye mom.” She tried to fight the tears that were threatening to fall as I gave her a hug:

“Bye honey. Be careful. I love you.” I gave hugs to my sister, my brother, and Matt before I got to my dad:

“Bye daddy. I love you and I promise that I won’t let you down.” It had taken him awhile but, with the help of my mother, he had finally gotten used to the idea of me moving to Florida with Nick. He gave me a hug:

“Bye sweetheart. I love you.” After Nick said goodbye to everyone, the two of us climbed into the Jeep. I rolled down the window for one last goodbye:

“Bye! We’ll call you tonight. We’ll probably stop in North Carolina for the night.” My dad called out as I started driving away:

“Drive carefully. Let Nick drive if you get tired.” I giggled as I started to put the window back up:

“I will Daddy!.” Nick smiled at me as he looked through my CD’s:

“I love you. This is going to be so awesome.” I smiled, although I was a little apprehensive about the whole thing. Don’t get me wrong. I was so excited to live with Nick. But, I was just worried. What if it ended up not working out? We’ve never been around each other for a long period of time, except when I was on tour with him. But that was almost 2 years ago and it didn’t exactly end well. Oh well, I love this guy so I pushed those thoughts out of my head and smiled at Nick:

“I love you too.”

We made it to NC around midnight and I called my dad to let him know that we were alive. We were so exhausted so we fell asleep in each other’s arms so we could get up early and get on the road again.

Next thing I knew, Nick was lightly kissing me all over my face. I smiled as my eyes fluttered open:

“Nice wake up call, Nicky.” He made a face at the name I called him:

“Because I love you so much, I’ll let that one slide.” He kissed me again as his hands roamed my body. I lightly pushed him away:

“Down boy. We’ve got a lot of driving to do.” Nick frowned:

“But baby. Come on. It’s been so long.” I stood up and walked into the bathroom:

“So it shouldn’t be that hard to wait just a little bit more.” I shed my clothes and stepped into the shower. Next thing I know the curtain was thrown back and Nick was stepping in with me:

“I was never much for being patient.” With that said, he kissed me and, let’s just say, my shower took a little longer than planned.
