"Kayla...come on answer the phone baby,"Nick said into the phone.

"Hey this is Kayla...as you can tell I'm not home right now so if your name isn't Nick Carter then leave a message and I'll get back to ya soon."

"Kayla, I know you're there, please pick up the phone," Nick pleaded. The sound of his voice was enough to make me go weak in the knees. "Kayla, I'm so sorry, I don't know how many times I have to tell you...you mean everything to me...I need you in my life, please just give me one more chance...I love you." Nick was crying by now.

~beep~ The message was over.

Hearing Nick cry only made me cry. It had been two months since I cought Nick cheating on me with one of the Backstreet dancers. I knew Nick had meant every word and tear, but I still thought he would do it again and use the same excuse as before. My thoughts were interupted by a knock on the door. I slowly got off the couch and went to the door. "Who is it?" I called.

"It's me, Brian," he answered. I decided to let Brian in.

"Kayla, we gotta talk," he said. He looked as if he had been crying.

"Would you like some coffee?" I offered.

"No thanx, please just sit down and listen to me, please," Bri said. I did as he told me.

"Kayla...Nick is sick, real sick. Ever since you broke up with him he went crazy. The only time he even tries to act happy is when he's on stage. Kayla...he's near death." Tears streamed down Brian's face. The words "he's near death hit me like a thousand knives stabbing my heart. "Kayla, look at me." Bri grabbed my face so that I saw looking him striaght in the eye. "Kayla, you gotta belive me when I say he'll never do it again. I know you have been as miserable as he has, and I know that you still love him with all your heart and that you wanna be with him right now," Bri told me. I knew what I had to do, and it had to be done fast.

I waited impatiently for him to open the door. I looked awful but I didn't care. Nick finally answered the door. He looked terrible. His eyes were all red and puffy, and his face was tear stained. I started to cry. "Nick," I said in a low whisper.

"Hi, Kayla," he choked out.

"Nick, I love you!" I cried as I jumped into his arms.

"I've missed you sooooo much!!!" he said as he hugged me tightly. Nick led me into his house. Just as we were about to sit down and hold each other like old times. I took a CD outta my backpack purse and gave it to Nick. "Play track one," I told him. The song was "Kiss the Rain." After the song was over, I turned off the CD player and told Nick, "Whenever you need me all you have to do is kiss the rain," and with that we kissed.
