brutum fulmen moon boots (7" vinyl from eggshell and four dead)
the brutum fulmen take on computer data on their first vinyl release [also the first ever release from ea4d], and zip off to outer space. the title track opens with a bass sound so low that i have to put my hand on the speaker and feel it to make sure it isn't coming from outside. from there it becomes the inside of a huge space station, circuits having mad conversations with themselves and snapping into  life to maintain failing life support systems, hidden engines chugging quietly trying to keep orbit; and all around the feeling of the emptiness outside. 'puncture' is a complete changes, noisier and with much less processed sounds: the sound of a hull breach, alarms sounding  and the rush of air. 'unmanned probe-encounters debris-thrown off course-contact lost' is another atmospheric track, much sparser than 'moon boots,' with the suggestion of half-heard voices and various other unintelligible sounds disappearing into nothing until the signal is finally cut off. every track is very well put together and very engaging to listen to, with nice minimal packaging too. also if you are turntable impaired [as i am] you can get a cdr copy for a dollar [when you order from indigestpress anyway, i don't know if ea4d does this]. so you've got no excuse not to get it.
