go go ghidohra evening entertainments (cdr from yuffie's sub quest) as a reviewer there are some distasteful things i have to do from time to time. such as labeling recordings with vague genre names that i don't really agree with. that said, i'm afraid i will have to stick a 'post rock' label on this one, since it seems to fit the sound, sort of. bah, post rock. not that i have anything against the music on this cd, it's actually pretty nice stuff, atmospheric electronics and 'natural' instruments (guitar and whatnot), i just don't get the term. anyway, this disc starts of nicely with the track "as god as my witness, he's broken in half", spacey melodies and muted beats floating through nine minutes like the opening titles of a movie, with a feeling of tension underneath. the second track ("*72*1489359#72") is even nicer, if i had a college radio show or something i'd play this on it, not too long at three and a half minutes, very pleasant guitar and beats with sort of a tortoise (tnt era) feel. "15 horses high" actually sounds like it would fit on an anaphylaxis cd, with sort of 'reverb' style loops at the beginning and a noise jam ending. not all of this disc is nice though, things get a bit sinister on the second to last track "they will find a means to move you", a darker electronic piece with slightly more aggressive beats than previous tracks. the more i listen to this disc the more i like it, and i don't think this review really does it justice, so you'll just have to go listen for yourself.
