"Horror Wrestling"
1998, Mercury/The Enclave
Compared to most of the reindeer dung dripping out of Scandinavia these days (see: extreme death metal), Drain sth sounds rather pleasant. Sure, the band consists of fine young females (many of whom are actually longtime veterans), but since i'm older than 14, that doesn't automatically make them cool. Their music is hard-hitting for sure, but it's often slow and reeks of stale late-90s production (for once, someone OTHER than Ross Robinson is to blame). "Crack The Liar's Smile", "Serve The Shame" and a handful of other tracks manage to rise above mechanical mediocrity, and the bonus cuts aren't bad either (they include: an acoustic version of "Serve The Shame" and a hangover-addled version of "Ace Of Spades"). Still...For 15 tracks, there sure is a lot of filler.
