Preciosa is a beautiful young girl that grew up with her grandfather in a circus. Her only dream is to become a famous trapeze artist like her late mother. Unfortunately, her dreams were prematurely cut short when a tragic accident crippled one of her legs. Because of her handicap, she has become the target of nasty attacks from the cruel and vicious circus owner, who is bent on mocking her aspirations. While awaiting an operation that may cure her physical impairment, Preciosa keeps herself occupied by caring for the animals, providing support for the other members of the circus, and attending to her grandfather Don Tito, who is one of the clowns. Meanwhile, in a very different area of town, Dr. Luis Fernando Santander (Mauricio Islas) is an accomplished orthopedic specialist and lives a life quite opposite to that of Preciosa. Dr. Santander is also a member of one of Mexico’s most prestigious families, and although he was brought up in extreme wealth, he does not neglect those less fortunate than him, and dedicates part of his time working at a charity hospital. It is there where Preciosa and Dr. Santander will first meet and eventually fall deeply in love. But at this point Preciosa’s problems will be just begin. She will have to suffer many cruel injustices and several terrible heartaches before she will discover if her dreams will become reality. It is perhaps important to mention that some things and events in the plot of this production do exist or in a similar way happened in real life. A romance between Iran Castillo (Preciosa) and Mauricio Islas (Luis Fernando) was born, and the circus that was used is a real circus that tours across Mexico. Carmen Salinas (Pachis) had in fact a son that died in her real life. He died of a cancer a few years before Preciosa was produced. When Carmen was in the scene where "Pantera" was shot, she unconsciously lived the day her son died and truly fainted! This soap opera was produced in Mexico by Televisa in 1998, with a lenght of 100 episodes of 1 hour each, and was written by Alberto Gomez. The show's theme song, "Girando en el tiempo" (Spinning in time) is performed by Iran Castillo. You can get it in her second album Tatuada En Tus Besos, or in the Preciosa Soundtrack available in CD and Cassette.
