Dear Master Singers,

With a deep sense of awe, I invite you sing Bach’s Mass in B Minor for our 33rd season. The scope and magnificence of this work, with the requisite vocal techniques, takes time to prepare. So, we will rehearse from September through March on this music exclusively. More than any other music, this speaks to me of the soul’s great longing for peace…music filled with deep reverence and introspection, celebration and exultation, breadth and beauty so far beyond what can be expressed with mere words.

Rehearsals begin Monday, September 9, and will continue on October 7, at the Fox Lane Middle School Little Theatre on the Fox Lane Campus, Rt. 172 in Bedford. Registration for singers will be at 7:30 PM with rehearsal from 8-10 PM. In the event of inclement weather or any other problem, we will use email to notify everyone. This is the perfect time to invite friends and new singers to join us! As always, full or partial scholarships are available by speaking to me privately. Dues are $275 for the entire year, plus the cost of music and study CD. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let us know so we can find a solution, and continue singing together!

We are waiting for Bedford Presbyterian Church’s approval of our Spring Concert date. Please hold March 30, and April 6, 2014. These are the only two possibilities. Dress rehearsal will be during the preceding week, so please leave your schedules flexible, with peaceful space to be at your best for the concert. Leslie Fagan will be joining us for our concert!

I hope you have had a good summer, filled with renewing, joyful experiences. The delight of last spring’s Vivaldi concert still leaves my heart dancing…what an incredible performance with two standing ovations!

I am so looking forward to seeing you all soon! Please come and sing! Invite your friends to join us.       Master Singers of Westchester was founded in 1981 by fifteen singers with a desire to perform great choral repetoire with professional orchestra and soloists and to share this quality musical experience within the community.
      All singers are accepted without audition. Training in classical and baroque vocal technique is provided at rehearsals. New singers are welcome until ten weeks before the concert date. For information, call 914/739-3669.

Cancellation Policy

Rehearsals may be cancelled up to 6 pm on the day of rehearsal due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. A phone tree is in place with the leader of each section receiving the cancellation call from a member of the board. The section leader is responsible for notifying their section, but you may also receive an email if you register your email address (below):

Directions:

From Bedford Pres. Church:
  • Make a right out of the Village Green onto Rte 22 North.
  • Follow 22 to first corner, Guard Hill Rd. is a left with a blind turn to oncoming traffic (before Rte 121), be careful!
  • Follow Guard Hill for 2 miles, slowing for Speed Humps and Dirt road conditions.
  • Nancy's house is on the left at number 388, 3rd on right after the Narrows Rd.
    --- three house before you arrive at clock tower at Succabone Rd. (which maybe the best route from Bedford Hills.)
    From the Mt. Kisco exit of 22
  • Take right into Fox Ln (toward Middle school) and loop back to intersection
  • straight onto Succabone Rd. and through intersections until you cannot go straight through.
  • right at the clock tower at Guard Hill Rd.
  • Nancy's house will be on third on the left.

    If you don't want to be blocked in the driveway, park along Guard Hill Rd. on the Vick-house-side.
