The Greatest Gift

From Eden's fall
Redemption's crimson thread, through God's design,
Would trace the way
From death to life, in His good time
The prophet's words
Revealed a glimpse of that eternal plan
'For unto us
A child is born' -- the Son of Man
God came down, clothed in our fragile clay
Heaven and earth rejoiced to see the day
The greatest gift the world will ever know
Came wrapped in God the Father's love and Mary's gentle arms
The grace of God from heaven to earth below
Became a child, God's gift to us --
Jesus.
The loving hands
That touched the blinded eyes and gave life to the dead
Were torn by nails,
And cruel thorns crowned sacred head
The prophet's words
Again foretold the cost the Son of God must pay
To seek and save
The wandering souls who lost their way
Father God gave in His spotless Lamb
The Son he had not required of Abraham
(2nd Chorus)
The greatest gift the world will ever know
Was bathed in blood and sweat and in His mother Mary's tears
The grace of God from heaven to earth below
Was crucified, God's gift to us --
Jesus.
