Oh Lord, have mercy --
Lord, how many times have I lifted up this prayer;
I know You care, but I wonder why You won't forsake me now.
The controversy
Is the battle in my soul against Your will;
You love me still, and in unrelenting kindness, keep Your vow.
And I know there's power in believing in the mercy and grace that come from You,
Even so, the gift that I'm receiving is for me to share with those who need it too.

Save me from Your anger, even though I deserve it,
Fill me with Your power to be Your servant,
So that every day my heart can display Your mercies
Lead me through the trials to make me better,
Making me ready to live forever,
That in every way my life will portray Your mercies.
