"The Beginning of Wisdom"
Listen, my child, turn your ear to my voice,
Make God's own righteousness your choice.
See where the treasure of God's knowledge is stored:
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.

Cry out for wisdom, keep it close to your heart,
Grasp it and it will not depart.
Seek after her whose call cannot be ignored;
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.

Fear is the reverence for God's holy character,
Knowing all He has said, He will do.
Curses and blessings, every word will remain;
He will ever be faithful and true.

Buy truth and kindness, never let them be sold;
Long not for silver nor for gold.
Write on your heart the words that from Him have poured;
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.

Here, I will teach you, may your learning increase;
Doctrine of life, and health, and peace --
For in these words of mine you'll find great reward:
The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord.
