Now a lazy man won't get out of bed,
He says, "There's a lion in the streets, I could wind up dead!"
And a fearful man's always running scared
He turns his tail to run even when there's nothing there.
But a righteous man, he is keen and bold,
Lord, make me a righteous man before I get too old!
Now a drunken man doesn't stop to think,
The only thing he wants is to find another drink.
And a careless man folds his hands to rest,
All the work he's done won't pass the final test.
But a righteous man is like gold refined,
Lord, make me a righteous man while I've still got the time.

Well, a wicked man, he may dig a pit,
But not much time goes by until he falls in it.
And a prideful man thinks he knows it all,
Doesn't understand that he's set himself up for a fall.
But a righteous man, he will take a stand,
Oh Lord I want to be a righteous man!
