Dianne's Experience
Dianne has been playing for church services from the time she was 12 years old starting with piano - and Sunday School. Then at the age of 14 playing organ for church.
For over 26 years she has been teaching music lessons privately. She has since seen some of her students go on and become teachers as well and accomplished musicians. Some of her voice students have gone on to become recording artists.
She has taught for several different school boards. In 1999, she taught for St. John's Music, out of Toronto, teaching at two different schools. Here she spent a lot of time on the roads but she enjoyed meeting the students from other areas and hopes that she has inspired them to go on.
Even though Dianne did not grow up in a French family or in a French community - she was able to learn how to speak French very well. She also knows how to speak several others. In 1998, she was able to put this to use and teach music in French at a French as a first language school. She found that music is music in any language.
At these schools she was completely responsible for setting up the curriculum and of giving tests and assignments as well as preparing newsletters and report cards.
She taught for Academy of Music for 6 years, teaching individuals of all ages. She believes that she has heard all of the excuses of why any one has not practiced .
Dianne has been part of a youth orchestra as a member and enjoyed the travelling and playing in other communities. As an adult, she has directed and conducted many bands as well as choirs and enjoys both aspects. Dianne is currently directing a "New Horizons Band" for those over 50 years of age, similar to the program offered at Western University, in London Ontario. Please contact her for more information on loction and times.
