One Simple Mistake

Donna pulled into her driveway that Friday afternoon and saw her boy-friend's black Toyota 4-runner already parked in one side of her garage. Friday night was their movie night and Donna could picture Kevin now, standing in front of the stove making dinner. She missed these cozy nights in when he was away from home.

Walking into the house, she was surprised to find the kitchen empty and the rest of the house silent. Leaving her purse on the kitchen counter, she kicked off her heels and headed upstairs to change clothes. When she flicked on the light, she was startled to see Kevin lying on her bed. "Damn, baby. You scared me..."

"Sorry," Kevin replied holding out his arms. "Wanna join me?"

Donna took off her jacket and leaned back into Kevin's strong arms. She loved the feel of his tight chest against her back as he pulled her hair aside and kissed her neck. Unbuttoning her shirt, he slid one of his hands over her breasts while the other hand inched up the inside of her thigh. "Don't start anything you can't finish, Richardson," Donna said in a seductive tone.

Kevin stood up and pushed Donna down onto her back playfully. "Don't tempt me."

Donna sat up, took her blouse off, and tossed it to the floor decide the bed. Kevin unhooked her bra and slid her skirt and panties down her long, tan legs. Before he could pull his t-shirt over his head, Donna had his windpants and gray boxers around his knees. Stepping out of them, he laid down on top of her and kissed her hungrily.

"Baby, I've been dreaming about you all day," Kevin said sexily. "Do you know what I want to do to you?"

"Show me." Donna raised her leg to Kevin's side and he entered her forcefully, causing Donna to cry out. Her nails dug into his back as he pushed deeper inside her.

Kevin moaned as he ground himself harder against her body. Her cries of pleasure were exciting him to no end and he was about to lose control. He buried his face in her neck, licking and biting at her skin as they moved together in perfect rhythm.

Donna slid her hand down to Kevin's hip and felt him lace his fingers into hers. When he squeezed her hands she opened her eyes. He was biting his bottom lip, completely lost in the moment.

Kevin moaned as he pushed himself farther into Donna roughly, causing her whole body to shake. She wrapped her legs around his waist to pull him closer as he continued to move in and out of her wildly. They had never been this untamed before and now they could contain themselves no longer. He bit down on her neck and she couldn't keep herself from screaming. Together they got louder...and louder...and louder...

Kevin brought his lips back to Donna's and gave her a long, lingering kiss. Their eyes locked and they came together. Donna's hips raised at the feel of him spilling into her. Kevin kissed her again and placed his head on her chest, not bothering to move. He ran his hand over her breast and kissed her collarbone as she played with his damp hair.

"I think that was better than any movie," he said softly. "What got into us?"

"I don't know, but I liked it."

Kevin gazed at Donna adoringly. "I love you, do you know that?"

"I love you, too, baby," Donna whispered.

After a few minutes, Kevin rolled over and stood up. "Come on, Boo," he said after he kissed Donna. "Let's go eat that dinner I cooked."

Kevin slid his windpants back on and threw his t-shirt back on over his head. Donna put on his boxers and the sweatshirt he had worn the night before. It still smelled like his cologne. After she tied her hair back, she and Kevin walked downstairs hand-in-hand.

"You fix the glasses and everything, baby, and I'll get the movie ready. I borrowed one from A.J. tonight. 'Cruel Intentions' or something like that."

A shiver went down Donna's spine at the mention of A.J.'s name. "Don't think about the past," she told herself in an effort to calm herself down. She set to work fixing their food. Kevin had made Chili, her favorite.

"I'm gonna go ahead and start it, baby," Kevin yelled from the living room. Donna froze and almost dropped the tray when she heard the sounds coming from the t.v.

"Whoa! I think A.J. gave me the wrong video!" Kevin said with a laugh. "Look at him and that poor girl. I know she had to hurt later." Kevin got up to stop the tape, but something made him freeze in his tracks.

On the screen, the two bodies shook together, their noises nearly drowning out the loud music and the sould of A.J.'s headboard banging against the wall. She and A.J. rolled over and the girl sat up on top of him. A.J. grunted and moaned under her as she scratched his bare chest with her long nails.

He held her hips tightly, lifting her up and slamming her back down onto him. As A.J. kept ramming into her body violently, she yelled out in a mixture of pleasure and extreme pain. Throwing her head back, she screamed, "A.J., baby, fuck me harder!'

A.J. sank his fingers into her waist and slammed her down, rocking her whole body back and forth. They moved harder and faster until A.J. came with a loud, raspy groan. The girls' violent climax wasn't far behind. She continued to move her hips roughly against A.J.'s body as she moaned and screamed his name.

Kevin's jaw dropped to the floor. The whole scene was shot from behind the girl but he would know that body anywhere. He would never forgive himself for not recognizing the voice earlier. "Donna, this is you..."

Donna, still standing in the kitchen, put the tray down on the counter and turned around to look at Kevin through the doorway. She didn't know where to begin explaining or what to say.

"Tell me I'm seeing things, Donna. Is that really you?" Kevin's eyes began to water as he waited for her to respond.

Unable to speak, she nodded her head. Sobbing, she blurted, "Kevin, I'm so sorry. That was such a long time ago; please listen to me! I am so sorry!"

"I really want to believe you," Kevin said softly, "But that tape didn't look very convincing, Donna. And now I don't know who to be more upset with, A.J. for doing the things he did to you or you for letting him. Why couldn't you have just told me yourself instead of letting me find out like this?"

"Kevin, we never meant for it to be this way. That was over a year ago and I haven't been with him since."

"Was that the only time?" Kevin spoke so quietly that Donna could hardly hear him.

"No," she answered, casting her gaze to the floor. "But it was the last time, Kevin. I swear. I finally woke up and realized how good you were to me and how muck I was putting at risk for something so meaningless with A.J. And I realized I love you too muck and I just couldn't do it anymore. I've felt guilty ever since. And I know it doesn't make everything okay, but I hate myself for what I've done. Kevin, I love you more than anything."

Kevin tried to blink away tears as he looked at her. He wanted desperately to believe her, but he just couldn't. And he wouldn't allow himself to go fall into the arms of the woman he loved more than life itself because he didn't know if she loved him anymore or ever really loved him at all. That thought hurt him worse than anything she could ever say or do.

"Donna, for the past two-and-a-half years of my life you've been the most important thing in it." Tears spilled from Kevin's eyes as he spoke. "I put you on a pedestal and I worshipped you. I more than love you, Donna, even after what I saw tonight."

Kevin stopped to wipe his eyes before he went on. "What happened between us upstairs tonight actually meant something to me. Every time I have ever made love to you has meant something to me. I used to think that you felt the same way, but I'm not so sure anymore."

"Kevin, I am so sorry. It was a stupid mistake that cost me the most valuable thing that I possessed: your love and trust in me." Donna let out a choked sob. "Kevin, please don't tell me that you're leaving me."

"Donna, I just need some time to sort all this out. I do still love you and you're a part of my life that I'm not gonna give up, but I just can't be around you right now. You will never know how bad this hurts." Kevin looked at her, his face wet with tears. He wanted just to hold her close and make everything alright, but he had to clear his mind first. He turned to leave and shut the door quietly behind him.

Outside the door, he heard Donna's sobs of sorrow. He knew she was slumped against the front door with tears streaming down her face. Pressing both hands and his forehead to the cool glass he let his tears flow freely. It broke his heard that he couldn't kiss these tears away but this problem wouldn't just vanish. Taking one final glance through the window, he pulled himself away from the door to leave.
